Challenge Steps

Step one

Visit the front desk for a map.

First, Participants should greet the front desk to receive a trail map OR see the visitors map under "Thing you'll need."

Step two

Before trailing off...

Make sure you have what you need to stay properly hydrated along the trail especially during the summer months. Grab a water from our giftshop, and a hat if you think you'll need one.

Step three

Safety and sensory discovery

We advise guests to avoid touching plants on the trail unless appointed as "safe" by a "sensory" indicator. If you would like to feel something like tree bark, be sure to check for the following: 1. There are no visible thorns or beings on the base of the tree. 2. You can see around the entire trunk of the tree- meaning it is out in the open and not tucked away in the thorn brush 4. You stay on the trail 3. You are gentle and kind

Step four

Be a tree detective!

You can learn a lot about trees just by observing them from their trunk to their crown. Put your spectacle son and really take the time to sit with a tree. Start by standing very close, then walking back. I wonder what you will notice?
