Step one

Download the pdf guide to this dragonfly challenge, containing some information about dragonflies and what to watch for. Take it with you when you visit!

Step two

Visit Sheri Capehart Nature Preserve

The preserve is open during the day and evening (see https://friendsofSCNP.org). There are several ponds, but following the sidewalk takes you to a wheelchair-accessible pond edge and fishing dock where dragonflies are common. You can bring a camera or binoculars, or just watch dragonflies you see nearby.

Notice the dragonflies near the water's edge

The guide has some information about dragonflies, the various wing colors and patterns, the body colors, and the behaviors you may see. You can check off what you notice using the guide.
